ALUA Creative is a boutique creative studio specialising in brand identity design and surface pattern design. The studio name comes from the Portuguese words ‘a lua’ (pronounced ah-loo-ah) meaning ‘the moon’. Alicia is the designer behind the studio name - for more than 20 years, I've worked across branding, graphic design and visual communication, creating identities and design systems that help businesses look and feel considered, distinctive and timeless.
More recently, that same attention to detail has moved into a new direction: illustrated surface pattern design, created for licensing and product collaboration. Whether the outcome is a logo, a brand system, or a printed pattern, the process is the same - thoughtful design, made with intention.
When I’m not working on client projects, you can find me dreaming up other personal arts and crafts projects or finding inspiration through nature and travel exploration (*street art in Marseille pictured here).
I'm based in Johannesburg, South Africa, but work with clients from any corner of the globe - on brand projects, illustration commissions, and pattern licensing alike.
